Popsicle Stick Birdhouses
Start by making a square out of four popsicle sticks and gluing them together. This will form the base of your birdhouse! Then, build up by gluing on more popsicle sticks until your square is as tall as you'd like.
Next, to make the floor of your base, glue a line of sticks straight across the bottom of your box
TIP: glue a line of sticks together in one direction, then glue on another layer going in the opposite direction--this will make the floor much sturdier!
To make the roof for you house, construct two squares by gluing a line of popsicle sticks to two parallel sticks and connecting the two halves to a center make of several sticks (see image)
To make the stands for the roof, cut the tips of 12 sticks at an angle. Glue together at least 3 sticks for each corner and then glue those to the underside of the roof and the walls of the base. (This will make sure it's extra sturdy!)
From there, decorate to your heart's content! You can use paint, stickers, glitter--whatever you'd like! Just be sure things are stuck on properly so they don't fall or get accidentally eaten by birds
What kinds of birds do you see in your neighbourwood? What do they like to eat? What songs do they sing?
