To make these pretty butterflies you don't need special paints, just some everyday markers will create as much impact!
Decorate your coffee filter using the washable markers. Use as many or as few colours as you'd like--but be sure to cover as much surface area as possible!
The next step is to dampen the decorated filter with water, you don't need too much but you do want the filter to be saturated. Next, leave it out to dry in the sun or a warm, dry spot. The colours will bleed into each other, transforming the coffee filter into the perfect set of butterfly wings!
Separate your two identical filters and fold them up accordion style (like you would for a paper fan) and then attach using the pipe cleaner. Twist off the ends of the pipe cleaner to create antennae and fluff up your wings--you've got yourself a beautiful, watercolour butterfly!
