A favourite activity for A&C classes, after dinner free time and rainy-day GBRS, collaging is a relaxing and creative way to express yourself and create unique masterpieces!
Start by flipping through your paper materials and keep an eye out for any interesting images or impactful words. it’s always better to start with more than you think you’ll need, so collect as much as you can!
Once you have a nice pile of clippings, sort through it and look for common themes to emerge. A theme might be a certain colour, or idea (like pictures of the outdoors, or of people). When you’ve narrowed down your selection it’s time to start arranging!
With collages it’s all about the layers! Try out different arrangements to see which looks best to you. Try turning pictures upside down, or sideways, or sandwiching them between other clippings!
Once you’ve decided upon a layout carefully glue everything down. You don’t have to stick to your page size, either--you can go smaller or larger, whatever you’d like!
