Toad Abodes

Picture
Toad Abodes are the perfect place for froggy friends to find shelter in your NeighborWood! Building one is a fun way to practice your shelter building skills and get creative and imaginative in nature!

Using sticks, leaves, stones, fallen bark and other materials, construct a shelter for a toad to live in. You can prop your sticks against a tree to create a roof or create a free-standing structure.
Don't forget decorations! How can you make your abode appealing to toads or other critters?

Things to think about:

  • Does your toad have access to water and food?
  • Will your toad be protected from the elements?
  • How can your abode protect your toad from predators, do you have camouflage or booby traps in place?
  • If your toad is kissed and returns to their princely form, will they still want to live in that abode?

A variation could be building a human shelter!
How are humans’ needs different than a toad’s?
How can you make sure your shelter is safe before you enter it?
